Make sure it's clear whether you have ""nights and weekends'' or just weekends. Also be very careful that you understand what they define as ""night'' hours. Just because it's dark outside doesn't mean that you're paying nighttime rates. Noramally Nighttime starts at 8:01 p.m. for some companies. For others, it's 9 p.m.
Service can be spotty depending on where you live, the best way to see if the service will be good where you are is to ask around. You don't want to sign a one year contract and find that out that you can barely get service in your home or at work.
You can also save money by buying a plan online. Online stores operate on low fixed costs and can provide some uniquely discounted deals that you normally don't find in brick and morter stores.
